Destiny: The Lord will giveth but the Lord will also taketh away!

I told some people before I came back to Pittsburgh what I would be doing and I guess they forgot. I said that I was coming back home to get my life back! There was a lot said behind the statement that I made. For some, they thought I was running from something or someone, in a way I was. Crying, temperamental children in overload is a good enough reason! What about feeling taken advantage of, being lied to, having to digest a past that I felt at times I couldn't escape, and most of all those feelings of not being appreciated let alone loved! Oh yes, I was running!

I didn't say I was coming back to Pittsburgh to play someone's handy-woman -- that's why I went to school to be my own handy-woman as well as get paid decent wages working for someone else. Neither did I say I was coming back home to play babysitter either, if I want to watch children I would on my own time not because someone suggested or told me to,...I think not! I could go back home and watch my own! Lastly, I wasn't coming back to Pittsburgh to change anyone's daily schedule either, if they wanted to make some time for me so be it, if not, my train keeps moving! When you involve yourself with people who know your track record of generosity they expect you to do for them like you have no life, no goals, and no destiny. Which brings me to my point, what is your destiny? Are people taking advantage of you because you don't have your destiny orchestrated. Is it that you are waiting on God for a plan to start walking toward your destiny? Has God already given you a plan but you just don't know what to do with it?

I guess this wouldn't bother me so much if I knew these people had no clue about prayer, God's calling, destiny, and other spiritually related things. But most of the people I have associated myself with over the years know better! They know that when one is attempting to get their life back, what they are really saying is, "I have been called on an assignment to secure my destiny. A destiny that was taken away from me by mistakes I made and other reasons to numerous to count, so move out my way and let me get by, thank you!"

Have you ever tried to get around someone who was in your way? They may have been standing in front of something you needed, maybe they were blocking you from parking, or holding you up with a long conversation even though you told them you had to go several times or more. These obstacles that are set before you, although they may be on the surface well-meaning, hinder you from achieving your dreams, they keep you from your destiny.

As long as I continue on the path that God has called me on, I will be okay, but if I don't, he will take what is at the end of the journey away from me! Why leave a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow if there won't be anyone around to pick it up?

Pittsburgh Church: The Millennial Reign Church

I had the opportunity to attend a worship service in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Easter Sunday, at The Millennial Reign Church http://www.millennialreign.org/ Pastor Karl Edmonds (of the popular mime duo K&K Mime) gave a high energy, impactful, holy ghost, annointed sermon based on the biblical scriptures found in Matthew 27:62-66! Just as Jesus arose after three days, so will you in whatever situation you are presently facing!

From illness to finances, Pastor Edmonds told the congregation that in three days some of us would have an increase in our monies, others would be signing contracts, and more! Ot came to pass for me! One of the women I attended church with was touched by the pastor and he claimed that God would be blessing her with an increase and that all take notice of this woman! I touched her too, she was my mother! The way I see it, if she was due a significant increase I wanted to claim it for me as well being that I am her child. I am in a situation in my life that I have to literally buy my way out of my current crisis. Everywhere I look everyone is hungry or greedy for more, and the only way I can achieve my own personal dreams is to pray that what was stolen from me will come back to me in a one hundred fold return!

You see, there are people in this world who "play" being a believer, then there are those who just are! Which are you? Do you "play" your faith like a cheating man does his wife? Do you "play" God like you do when you walk by an old friend that you no longer have anything to do with? If this is you, can I tell you tricks are for kids? I think of the scripture in I Corinthians 13:11 which reads, "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." King James version.

Jesus Loves the Little Children

The song, "Jesus Loves the Little Children" is powerful! It reminds us that we are children in the eyes of God irregardless of our skin tone! Just as good parents love and care for their children in spite of..., God does the same for us. However, what separates babies and adults is the ability that adults have to make decisions on their own whereas a baby can do nothing more than wait for someone to help them.

I think of Matthew 18 when Jesus sits the child upon his lap and tells his followers, "Unless you turn to God from your sins and become as little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven." Now this statement would be difficult for one to understand if he or she has never been in the presence of children. What I can tell you about children from personal experience, is they are eager to learn new things. When they really want to know something they will keep their mouths closed and do as they are told. They will also ask questions and apply what they have learned to their lives. Unfortunately, when most children grow older they become know-it-alls and do not want anyone telling them anything. I think even after life experiences we should have learned from, there is still a know-it-all spirit within us that isn't asking questions like a child, but is actually presenting oneself before God, church, family, friends, and strangers as if he or she already knows the answer! This has been the downfall of many Christians in the faith, we get a little meat and run with it never thinking to go back and learn how to cook it for ourselves and then distribute it to others.

We don't act like children when it comes to going to God for answers. Rather, we go to God thinking we already know what we are supposed to do in a situation or already have some idea what we are going to do before we wait on God to give us an answer. Instead, we should be open minded before Him and realize that God wants to guide us and teach us something different so that we can apply it to our lives.

Have you ever wondered why some children are so much smarter than others? The answer isn't always about whether the child has a parent who is a genius, but oftentimes the intelligence of the child is developed because someone took the time to explain or teach them new things. If the child was the strong-willed type and was never taught to tame the beast within, then he or she will not be open to advice or learning anything different without objection. I think that sometimes as Christians we don't want to learn anything new or different, because we know that we are responsible for the knowledge that we obtain. Sometimes playing ignorant, at least for some Christians, is a good excuse not to do what you are supposed to do in the Kingdom.

The way I see it, if I don't bother to go to God like a little child asking questions and being willing to apply the answers to my life, then I am not doing anything for the Kingdom on earth and I can forget about going to the Kingdom after I die. In summary, be as a little child and go to God with your questions, unlike humans he won't be offended, and will be more than happy to assist!

God Needed a Pianist

God needed a pianist
someone to play him a song
like he did for me once
while I thought "so how long?"

God needed a pianist
whose heart was still tore
from yesterdays aches
whose body was still sore.

God needed a pianist
whose money problems ran deep
with little time left
and a booked up week.

God needed a pianist
who loved him so,
but sometimes forgot him
for the show.

God needed a pianist
whose fingers played quickly
who kept with the rhythm
a soul that moved swiftly.

God needed a pianist
someone who touched us all
who I remember well
in our last phone call.

Dedicated to my high school classmate Derrick Finch R.I.P. 2/17/2009

7 Things You Should Pray For Often

The following seven things are the most important things you should pray about when speaking with God. As you will see in the Bible, prophets prayed for these things and supernatural miracles happened for many of them. When you feel up or down in your life, pray. A healthy spiritual life is key to combating the perils of this life. May the following seven prayer requests renew you in mind, body, and spirit.

One. Healing and health is what sustains us each day. Without being healed from a sickness you can’t be of much help to someone else. When you are not ill, it is best to thank God for the health you already have and remember someone who may not be doing so well with his or her health.

Two. Wisdom is what you will need in whatever you do. How can you know what to do in a situation when you have no knowledge? Sometimes a book to read, conversing with someone, or Internet research is simply not enough. You may have to look to something greater than man or thing to get the answers you need to solve your problems.

Three. Protection from harm and danger is essential when you fear what you don’t know. How do you know when you leave your home today, you will be coming back without injury, better yet, alive? How do you know that your adventure seeking family member will come back safe after challenging his fate yet again? These are experiences that happen to people often and wouldn’t it be nice to know that someone cares enough to pray?

Four. Family and friends and anyone you come in contact with on a daily basis. Most people don’t realize that when they share a problem with a friend, subconsciously they are looking for something more than sympathy. They want answers and encouragement. The next time someone tells you about their aching back or troubled relationship secretly pray for them.

Five. Prosperity financially, spiritually, and mentally. There is absolutely nothing wrong with praying for a financial increase, spiritual renewal, or mental strength to handle the next challenge set before you. If you can ask someone for money, seek a psychologist for mental health, or sit down and listen to a minister counsel you, then why not ask God first?

Six. The ability to see signs and wonders. God is still blessing millions of people with miracles. If you need him to give you a sign your situation is already being handled by Him, then why not ask for a sign? However, you will need to pray the following to be sure that the sign you are awaiting for is not a trick from the evil one.

Seven. Discernment. Too many people go into situations not knowing who is friend or foe. Wouldn’t you like to know who indeed is on your side at work? What family member really doesn’t love you? And why certain people seem to always be around you when you need them? The only way you will be able to see the goodness as well as the evil in some people is by praying for the gift of discernment. However, a gift like this isn’t dispensed to everyone, only God’s chosen and the only way you can become one of God’s people is if you accept Him. Easier said than done.
