Moments with God

I hear...
Indian chants
the dialect of a foreign stranger
rhythms of peace
a calming wind
the world far away.

In the upper room
I hear my God
I am his Son
No past pangs from the evil one.
I'm free!

No more voices ringing
"You are a sinner."
I know.
I'm not perfect.
There's no wrong
in perfect love.

God my comforter
wake me up
when it's all over!

Be Abused by No One

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, be abused by no one. Some of you already know that and others who are reading this don’t. Let me explain, we must protect our bodies, mind and spirit from any kind of abuse not just for health reasons, but also for spiritual ones. We cannot argue with ourselves and say, “We will continue to live with this abuser, because she is great with my children” or “I love him, that’s why I take his mess.” God did not call us to be taken for granted, misused or abused. Jesus wasn’t one for arguing, He said what He had to say and backed it up with action…He walked away. Read the Gospels and notice Jesus’ mannerisms for yourself.

Many times we feel like God is no where around when bad things happen to us. However, we know that thinking is incorrect, because according to the New King James Version of the Holy Bible, God is everywhere at the same time, sees and knows all. Unfortunately, He didn’t create a world that is absent of verbal, physical and sexual abuse; instead, the most wicked of our society has orchestrated horrendous acts. As believers in Christ, we too, sometimes cannot avoid being abused or being the abuser. It doesn’t make those who haven’t experienced similar problems more blessed than us, for they have their own problems they are contending with from being poor to being mentally unstable. Yet some of you will ask why couldn’t God just wipe out all the evildoers? As we know that time hasn’t come yet, and until then we are expected to exercise our free will to do right or wrong.

When we turn on the evening news, our media shows us daily a world of strife and turbulence where innocent babies are being kidnapped and children are murdering their parents. In time we become, unemotional and detached from these news stories, because we have seen and heard too much. Then we find ourselves interviewing God about the problems of our society; instead of interviewing ourselves. How are we contributing to the world’s confusion with our own thoughts and actions when dealing with family, friends and strangers? If someone put a camera on us in the privacy of our homes and connected it to the Internet, could we continue the interview with God about what he is doing to help us and others? Most likely, we wouldn’t be asking any more questions of God. You see, we can’t blame God for what he isn’t doing, when we aren’t accepting the fact that we can choose between right and wrong. Further, we can’t expect God to do much for us when we only reach out to him when trouble is already upon us. Just like we have a relationship with family and friends, a similar relationship with God has to be cultivated. It can’t happen when our heads are clouded with work, school and our own personal pleasures. Time has to be set aside for God, so that we may find peace in the storms of our lives.

Unequally Yoked

This writing is for those of you who are tired of your mate lagging along in his or her spiritual walk or not walking at all.

If you were a believer before you were married, then you were most likely warned that choosing an unequally yoked partner will add additional problems to your relationship. If you decided to give your life to Christ while being involved with your current mate, then you may not have expected all the trouble you find yourself in with him or her because of your new found love of Christ.

Whatever your situation is you know God has an answer. If you are trying to invite your mate to church activities, God is telling you right now to stop! If you are trying to get your mate to pray with you, God is telling you right now to stop! If you are hoping and praying for your mate so hard that you are literally obsessing about his or her soul, stop! You won't change him or her by your actions alone.

You know what the scriptures say about being a living example, so you are going to have to put your best foot forward now that you have a relationship with God even if it means acting alone. You know what eventually happens to people who feel left out of groups, they begin to take interest. This may happen rather quickly with your mate, but others will be disheartened to find that maybe long after the relationship ends, he or she will find God. Yes, the relationship is going to eventually come to an end for some of you both in marriage and otherwise.

You see, anyone who God calls for you to be with they will be there and anyone God hasn't called you to be with, God will remove. Your mate must be filled with the Holy Spirit, he or she will have to accept Jesus as the Son of God and have an intimate relationship with Him just as you have with Him in order for the relationship to be a good one.

Now some of you will say, "Well isn't the unsaved sanctified through me?" Yes. But your faith doesn't keep he or she from going to hell. Just like you had to come to Christ, he or she will have to come too. Your relationship with God is what is keeping your mate from trouble. You are acting as an intercessor, speaking on his or her behalf, but when God decides to take his hand off of your relationship, you have to step away and allow him to do his work.

Having a relationship with an unbeliever isn't easy and many wise counselors will object to it. Their advice is in your best interest, consider taking it.

When God Speaks, 10 Things God Told Me in the Spirit

1. Observe your surroundings.
Know that I, Your God, Am Creator. Pay attention to strangers and strange happenings.

2. Listen to my voice.
(I speak) in the clouds, through the birds, through song and dance. Listen to my messengers - people. I use all people, places and things to communicate.

3. Use your head.
Think first what is your initial thought on a matter -- a major decision.

4. Let everything you do be spiritual.
Ignore the natural man inside for his desires and wants are of the flesh.

5. You are not of Me when you decide to do things according to your own will rather than my will.

6. Ignore criticism unless I tell you otherwise.

7. A day without me is a day without protection.

8. No matter what you do, wherever you may go, stay in prayer and fasting. Refer to the Bible for answers.

9. Everything happens for a reason. This is your test.

10. You will move on to eternal life if you follow these ways. Look to the commandments -- look to scriptures. Know that I AM in the plan.
